Ancestor:Descendants:

The bifurcated gegabelt has split from its ancestor and lives in Huggs Temperate Forest. Its previously sparse leaves have become highly bifurcated, greatly increasing their surface area and thus their sun-grabbing potential. Because it now lives in a cooler environment, its new leaves are highly vulnerable to cold weather. To solve this, all its leaves curl up into tight rolls, which prevents the freezing cold of winter from damaging its leaves. When the weather warms up again the leaves will unfurl.
