Ancestor:Descendants:

The bighorn krug split from its ancestor, the egg krugg. It moved its way into Darwin Temperate Rainforest where it took advantage of eating the unguarded eggs of the rainforest flunejaw. They primarily scavenge during the rest of the year when the rainforest flunejaw has no eggs. They have grown to twice their ancestors size and are heavily armored. Their chitin exoskeletons are very thick and have small spines all over them.

On their heads is a huge chitin horn which it not only uses to defend against predators but to fight over territory with other bighorn kruggs. Both males and females have horns and both will fight each other for space most of the year. However, during mating season they will have a truce and males can enter female territory. Once there the males will fight over the right to mate with a female.

Like their ancestors they breathe through primitive book lungs located between the segments of their chitin exoskeleton. They lay their snail-like eggs under the soil so predators cannot find them. The eggs can stay dormant for months until warmer weather comes.

They are primary ground dwellers and do not climb up flora. They are not fast runners and will stand their ground most of the time. They are quick tempered and very aggressive especially when fighting over carrion. They are very strong and can drag carrion 10 times their own body weight. Their mandibles can bite through bone and cartilage with ease.
