The boomsticks replaced their ancestor the glasscanon. Due to island gigantim they grew to 10 times their ancestors size. Rather than a single combustion chamber each stem has one. To protect it from herbivores they are throned with glass shard-like spines. Like their ancestor the base of the chamber is sealed as it builds up heat and pressure. Inside it works with the cryoutines microbes to make the explosions. These explosions spread their seeds and cryoutines to new locations. They typically fire after it has rained so the seeds have a place to grow. When they do go of they make loud pops and booms, which is where they get their name.
