The capped brystal split from its ancestor, the pagoda crystal, and has spread into the adjacent forests. Its top terrace has grown much wider, allowing its spores (which grow on the underside of the terrace) to spread much easier. The spores themselves are also slightly more aerodynamic. They have also grown twice the size of their ancestors. Other than that it isn't too different from other members of the genus; living for 10 years and taking a year to fully grow from a spore.
