The cavehopper split from its ancestors in the Ittiz-Ovi Desert region to live in the Martyk Sandstone Cave. The nocturnal scuttlehopper's large eyes helped it see in the darkness of the night, and its ancestor's large eyes help it to find its way from patch to patch of light gatherer plurges. In fact, its eyes have grown even larger to help it. The complete lack of predators has allowed the cavehopper to grow longer and slightly bigger. It still lays soft eggs amongst the roots of plants, but now it lays them in the roots of the light gatherer plurge instead of the plurge.
