Ancestor:Descendants:

The chunky plyent split from its ancestor, the plains plyent. It moved to the western beaches of Darwin and Drake. There it doubled in size and gained a thick layer of starch to keep it warm in the winter. Its roots have a thick bark to protect them, and their photosythetic skin has darkened to absorb more light. Their branches and leaf membranes have gotten smaller to help retain heat. They expel any excess salt their get from the beach out of the hole at the top of their trunk. They also expel their spores from this hole.
