Ancestor:Descendants:

The crawlnoid split from their ancestors and moved east. The are mobile thanks to recessive genes that were reused, giving back their ancestral flagella. They are able to move once again, but in order to do so they need more energy then is supplied by nitrogen alone. The cell walls have become rounder in order to move with minimal drag. They live near pools of water, feeding on the decomposing remains of other microbes. They do so by directly absorbing the particles in the creases of their cell walls. They also live on the banks of the Negative Polar River, in tiny pools in the mud. They live near the pools of water that form during the seasonal melting of the glaciers. When the winter ice comes the release their spores and die. The spores get frozen in the ice, and when it thaws they are near a source of water.
