Ancestor:Descendants:

The deep palm split from the shallowpalm. It has increased tremendously in size compared to its ancestor. It has adapted to live in the coastal waters rather than the fresh water of the swamps. Its sap is no longer poison and is used to keep out the salty water. its buds on the side of it will grow up without leaves depending upon its parent plant. Once it reaches the surface it will grow its leaves. It will grow up to 10 m but will grow smaller if the water is shallower. They cannot grow past waters of 8 m deep because of high and low tide.
