Ancestor:Descendants:

The deep seacural split from its ancestor, the sea cural. However its ancestor has not been doing so well because of the high competition for food and high predation. Thus it has gone extinct. However its line has not only survived but thrived! Unlike the packed coastal waters, the deep ocean has been mostly empty since the last ice age. This is mainly because the ocean have become deep again, thus leaving open biomes for species to repopulate.

The deep seacural had some advantages over other lineages as it did not need sunlight or air to survive, thus it could live in the dark depths of the planet's oceans. Its soft body also meant it could survive the pressures of even the deepest parts of the ocean. Its immobile body also meant it could stay dormant for long periods of time and survive on even the smallest amount of deep ocean "snow".

It is very much like its ancestor accept that is no longer has pigment and no longer needs large amounts of iron to survive. Its reproduction if the biggest change in that it now lays waterborne eggs which drift in the water to new locations. This adaptation has allowed it to spread across to all deep ocean biomes.
