The Desert Pedesorm split from the Armored Pedesorm when some Armored Pedesorms wandered into the desert. Many died due to the harsh conditions, but some survived and adapted. The Desert Pedesorm's most striking feature are the stony plates that cover parts of its trunk and legs. These plates help protect it from the occasional sandstorm. It's eyes have fully sunken into their eye-stalk to protect it from sand. In order to further protect their eyes, the Desert Pedesorm has evolved eyelids. However, thanks to the addition of its stony plates, it must ingest more stony material. This causes it to eat more dry shrubites as well as eating away at rocks. It's trunk-claw has grown sharper to chip away at rocks and cut down sunstalks and mainestalks. It is not uncommon for Desert Pedesorms to work together to cut down very tall mainestalks, as there is enough food for multiple pedesorms. The desert pedesorm's front limbs have grown slightly to hold pieces of food that will be eaten later. This food is often eaten when it can't find any.
