Ancestor:Descendants:

The Digging Gossalizard split from its ancestor, the Rainforest Gossalizard. It has specialized in feeding on burrowing species such as the Dusty Spelunkhoe and Tamchuck. Their streamlined body helps them slide though the soil and mud. Their use their two front claws to dig and the other limbs help push the soil aside. They love to find the burrows of other fauna and will lie in wait for them to return home. They will use their silk glands to make "trip lines" to sense when prey is coming and then will ambush its prey. Their protective exoskeleton protects against other predators as well as the defenses of its prey.

Since they cannot hear they use touch and vibrations from the ground and silk to sense things. Due to them being cold-blooded, they do not have to eat constantly and can wait for up to an entire month without food. While they grow, they shed off their old exoskeleton and its is replaced by a new one. However, this new exoskeleton is soft and it will hide in a burrow until it hardens.

Like their ancestor, after mating the male is eaten by the female. This gives the female enough nourishment to produce young. This is the only time they are cannibalistic. The juveniles feed on small prey like Vermees. Depending upon the region they live in they will feed on subterranean plents like the Dusty Spelunkhoe or the unfortunate juveniles of the Tamchuck and relatives. However, in some regions like Barlowe Temperate Woodland they survive just on Vermees. These sub-species are typically smaller than the majority of the population.
