The dwarf shoveltail split from its ancestor and moved to the woodlands. They are actually the descendants of short tailed runts that moved to the woodlands in search of mates. They live in much smaller groups then their ancestor that act in a semi-democratic fashion: grouping up and pushing the other group until they give up.
They can no longer dig backwards, but they are shorted to the point they can turn around with ease. They have a very direct feeding method; undermine young plants so they stay alive and are passively eaten. Small targets are undermined then dragged down and eaten.
