The false-larval sauceback split from its ancestor and is the result of neoteny. It lives virtually its entire life in the water, acting just like a giant larva of its ancestor. Unlike the larva of the foi-devourer sauceback it has fins that were once underdeveloped legs, it has small tusks and bare eardrums, and its skin is leathery. It can also swim faster than the larvae of its ancestor. They live in clusters due to feeding and females will wiggle onto land to lay their eggs, the larvae look and live the same as foi-devourer larvae.
