The flashlet split from its ancestor, the hardened flash cell, when it evolved to be able to interlock with other flash cells. Due to this ability, the flashlet was born. A flashlet is comprised of four flash cells surrounded by a square shaped cell membrane, which is in turn surrounded by a tough cell wall. Other than its appearance and three extra cells, the flashlet behaves like its ancestor.
