The giant hollowdome has split from the hollowdomes genus group. It is specifically related to the pioneer hollowdome and has a very similar appearance. However it has grown to 10 times its ancestors size due to island giganstism. Like the pioneer hollowdome it has large roots that are used to break up tough soil and works in symbiosis with the nitrocycle type microbes of Fermi.
Inside the glass-like chitin lenses help heat up its hollow interior. This creates a greenhouse-like environment within. So much so it can melt snow from forming on top o fits dome, thus allowing it to constantly get sunlight even after snow fall. However, during the long dark winters it can become covered, but it never really gets too cold inside due to its insulation. They do not grow in warmer climates since they will overheat if they do.
In the center is a large water reserve which it can use during long droughts. Its fungi-like interior is very reliant and can heal itself quickly in case gets damaged. Since the reproduce by asexually budding you typically find them growing in clusters.
