The greater tunnel tasertongue split from its ancestor, the tunnel tasertongue. It is better adapted for living underground. Its eyes are larger in order to see better in the low light and at night. Its toes have developed large digging claws and its "tusks" are also larger and better adapted for digging. At night the greater tunnel tasertongues will come out of their tunnels in order to go after surface food sources such as carrion. While its smaller ancestor still exists, it now inhabits the tunnels dug by this species and will occasionally steal their food.
