The leafstalk split from its ancestor, the orange spore stalk. It is almost identical to its ancestor except it has double the amount of protective petals. This extra set of petals have evolved into primitive leaves. These help collect more sunlight.
Their spores which are still spread by the wind and are still kept inside a chamber placed on top of its stalk which is opened once the chamber is filled with spores. The spores can form thick orange clouds able to choke small animals like its ancestor before it, only, the leafstalk is even more numerous and the spores can choke bigger animals.
Their roots drink water preventing it from drying out and also to cool down the cell's in its body, the water will leave the leafstalk through the stem, making it moist to the touch and photosynthesis more efficient. It also has a special adaptation. It will loose its second set of leaves in the winter when it snows and become dormant.
