The lightning tree arose from inferno tree that wound up growing in the very wet Flisch-Krakow Rainforest. Because it was so wet, the trees could not reproduce there. Some trees managed to reproduce by shear luck of being taller than other trees. This allowed them a better chance of being hit by lightning, which is a common occurrence in a rainforest. Thus, the trees kept getting taller and taller, eventually becoming so tall that their only competition for height was between themselves. They now produce seeds year round and because the trees have no leaves, they do not hinder lower plants and trees very much for light.
