The maeryoutine split from its ancestor. It has spread into the Mae Sandstone Caves. In order to adapt to its new environment, it could no longer rely on photosynthesis. Instead, it feeds upon silica and sometimes iron as its food sources. It has spread everywhere inside the Mae Sandstone Caves. maeryoutine are similar to its relative, the calcitine, because of how it uses the silicon in the silica as a food source and releases oxygen as its by-product. This is a form of convergent evolution. However, it is different from the calcitine because of how it has evolved to withstand higher temperatures that its ancestor could not bear. This allows the maeryoutine to live near the Magma Caverns.
