The mawshroom evolved from stickymaw. Like its ancestor, it eats dead things, but it now specializes in dead plants and tree plents as opposed to proteins in animals. It has lost all of its ability to photosynthesize and has no natural pigment. It will, however, obtain the color of whatever it is eating. In the picture, it is eating a darkpalm, and is thus turning blue. It has grown a stalk, more advanced digesting roots, and even a cap for rain water to flow off of. On the rim of the cap are ball-like spores. These act like the stickyballs and will stick to things that pass by or will fall off onto the ground dormant until something dies on top of it, when it comes back to life to digest it with its sticky liquid (note: the liquid is clear but will also obtain coloring based upon what it is digesting, in this case blue).
