Ancestor:Descendants:

The stickymaw evolved from stickyballs. A few resistant balls were able to survive in this moist environment and have adapted to survive in the rainforest. There is much less sunlight, so now they absorb the surface they're on as food as well. This means both living and dead, but living things tend to scrape them off before they can do damage, thus they thrive on dead things. In the rainforest, it is mostly dead plant matter. Its sticky liquid is used for digesting the surface it's on, and its tiny roots absorb the liquefied food. The cap of it is purple with the photosynthetic cells, while the bottom is semi-transparent and becomes the color of whatever it is eating. Also, heat helps speed up the process, and thus they thrive in hot, damp environments. In the picture it is digesting a darkpalm log.
