Ancestor:Descendants:

The Mertiprongs split from their ancestor, moving along the northern waterways of mainland Dixon. With the higher salt concentration in the marshes, it has taken to storing access salt in its quills, shedding the salt when the quill drop off. Other than this, there is little difference between the two species.
