Ancestor:Descendants:

The mirrorshell replaced its ancestor the tundra bubblehorn as well as its relatives the fraboohorn and frabooball. With the presence of the burncumference many bubblehorns were getting burned alive since they don't move to fast. Thus they evolved adaptions to counteract the focused beams of light.

One adaption is the reflective shell that is so shiny it is like a mirror. This keeps it from burning. However it has exposed parts so the shell now covers them all under the shall with an overhanging skirt. This hides the 10 legs, "bubblehorns" and mouth.

While its ancestor had its nostril on its back an mutation gave some on its belly which proved to better protect it from the burning light. It can still sniff the ground below for food and eat it. The legs still work as normal and lift it slightly off the ground when walking. However if flipped over they not only have trouble turning back over but may burn to death.

They lay their eggs in the melted ice puddles. Due to the harmful beams a mating pair will take turns will stand over the puddles to protect it. This also helps insulate it from the elements. If the weather gets bad they will also hibernate safe in their shells waiting for the snow to melt off of them.
