The neyah replaced its ancestor, the wetland hoofbear. With all the other descendants specified in different niches it ate, the wetland hoofbear was finally replaced. The neyah has specialized in scavenging along the Slarti River and Slarti Swamp. Its strong jaw can bite through bone and flesh with ease. Its teeth have become sharper for slicing. Its claws have become sharper too to help slash into dead flesh. They are very aggressive creatures who will fight over carcasses. Their "butt-nostril" have become larger and can smell. They use this to detect rotting meat over longer distances. They also have evolved protective wood plates on their back legs. This protects them in brawls over food as well as when males fight over mates. Females will raise their offspring alone. Once they are a year old they will leave their mother.
