The orb tree replaced its ancestor, the prong gemorb. With the onset of the fattylump shrub and the gemorb shrub, the remaining prong gemorbs had to adapt. They doubled in size and added an extra pair of branches. They still reproduce by budding; however each of the orb-buds is covered with a fragrant sap. When an herbivore is attracted by the smell and tries to eat the orb-bud, it explodes covering the creature in sap and spreading its spores; the sap is digestible, and so herbivores usually don't mind the exploding orbs as long as they get to eat the sap.
