The otter trapinfilter split from its ancestor, the deep trapinfilter. It has moved to Otter Vents and feeds of the many microbes that live there. It is so rich in sulfur eating microbes that it has grown to ten times its ancestors size. In complete darkness it has lost all of its pigment. Its shell is now white and its filtering tentacles are blue from the blood in them. They cluster around the geothermal vents where the microbes are the most rich. They can withstand extreme heat and pressure.
Its root-like tentacles dig into the ground and keep in anchored. It can pull in its filtering tentacles if a predator comes by or the water gets too hot. Once full the filtering tentacles will retract into the shell to be licked off. It can also dig straight down into the sand if a larger predator come. Every summer they will spawn huge clouds of spore into the dark waters. This causes a feeding frenzy for about a week. They do this to maximize the number of offspring that will survive.
