The pert split from the larand genus group. It lives in Wright Tropical Riparian where it was mostly devoid of macro species. It has improved its roots by growing a tuber to store up energy. Its photosynthetic tip now forms a primitive leaf. The leaf will periodically burst to release its asexual spores.
