The Pioneer Raftballs has split from the Pioneeroots genus and has spread across immense parts of the global oceans and seas of Sagan 4. Like it’s distant ancestor the Island Colonialball members of this species clump together in immense rafts as large as small islands. They provide a massive source of nutrients for seaworthy herbivores – as well as providing nests, shelter and even small ecosystems for various fauna (flying or amphibious).

As members of this species bud off repeatedly within the colony, some drift away to begin new colonies whilst others continue to clump onto the existing colony increasing it in size. Each globe grows roots to collect nitrogen, which fuse with other individual roots over time whilst distributing nutrients throughout the colony equally. Pioneer Raftballs are also known to form symbiosis with Diaminets, and often compete on the open waters with the Colonial Bobiiro for nutrients.
