The placosub replaced its ancestor, the placoball and became more suitable in processing sulfur, thus growing to 0.0005 mm long. Two of its back cilia prolonged and became flagella that allows it to move faster in the water, avoiding the many filter feeders that depended on its ancestor. Its body deformed extremely from the slick and streamlined spherical structure of its ancestor, as it now shows the effects of the heat on the rigid structure of its heat shields.
