The raq urpoi split from its ancestor and moved to Raq Temperate Bay. Its has gone to eat the assorted gilltails in the region, growing a bit in size. Their color has changed to dark blue to blend in with the water, and their fins are black to blend in with the double bubblegea.
They have found the speckled pumpgill to be a more nutritious meal (because its pump-respiration allows it to be more active); so they prefer to hunt the pumpgills rather than the follower gilltails. However in order to hunt more effectively, they needed to improve their own respiration. As such they have developed a new set of 6 pores lining the base of their proboscis, these lead to a set of tubes that are specified to absorb oxygen and release carbon dioxide, ending in a set of pores on the end of their plate-dorsal-fin. This also helps because they can now breathe while eating.
Also their tentacle-claws are longer as well as their proboscis getting shorter (each one acquiring barbs), so it can handle its food more dexterously. Their eyes are oriented forward, so they can spot and catch their prey more accurately. The fin on its tail has gotten bigger, so to give it more power. They are still social, hunting in groups of 3-4 and using their bioluminescent spots to signal each other; slow flashing=calm, quick flashing=attack!
Individuals live for about 10 years. They reach maturity at 4 years and mate every other year. Eggs take about a month to hatch.
