The rowing plent split from the paddling plent. Rather than diving down to the bottom, it swims across to top of the water gathering scraps of plant matter, as the much larger pleppo eats the sailily. Its legs have gotten smaller, while its leaves have gotten bigger and are used as oars. It moves across the top of the water like a rowboat. Its head has developed a small jaw that can grind up plant matter with wooden teeth. Its air hole, which comes out of its back end, has been angled up like a snorkel, so it can breathe while at the surface. It can also briefly jump up out of the water and glide for a few seconds when attacked by marine predators. Its "wing span" is about 3 ft long and the body is about 1 ft long.
