The sandsnapper split from the eggsnapper. They eat eggs just like their ancestor. They are now better adapted to an arid environment and have tougher scales, which reduces water loss. Their sails collect heat, which helps keep this cold-blooded creature active. However, it still lays frog-like eggs, so it has developed an ingenious strategy of biting a hole into a Bubble Cactus, where it is nice and moist. It then lays the eggs into the hole. Once they hatch, they are fully grown and can start finding eggs on their own. The tail has also gotten thinner so it will not touch the hot sand. They tend to make their homes in sandy burrows near Bubble Cacti.
