The shallowpalm has increased tremendously in size compared to its ancestor, the darkairoot toxicpalm. Due to a lack of predators, it has lost most of its defense mechanisms. The teflon-like leaf surface has all but disappeared. The sticky saucer traps have inverted themselves, to instead create a segmented-type trunk. While it used to emit sap purely to defend against predators, it now uses this primarily to help protect it from the water and sun. It is still poisonous, though that has lost much of its gusto. The most noteworthy change is its ability to keep on growing upwards - with more leaves - after the first two grow, allowing it to gather much more sunlight.
