Splitting from its ancestor, the snappermaw scylarian has stopped living on the sea floor, and has become more powerful. The snappermaw scylarian has a very large mouth, allowing it to swallow larger prey. It also has bigger fins, which helps it move quicker, allowing it to catch up to fleeing prey quicker. To attract mates, snappermaw scylarian has developed bigger and more colorful dorsal fins.
Young are born in groups of 6-8, but normally half of them survive. Baby snappermaw scylarians are shorter than their adult forms, and have shorter whiskers. The young leave their parents shortly after being born to find a new area with plentiful food. It usually takes 2–4 years for snappermaw scylarians to reach adulthood.
