The soma lardworm split from its ancestor, the lardworm, and moved to the salty biomes to the north. It now eats the dead and decaying flora and fauna, using the thermals produced by the hot sand to fly between brine pools. When on land, it can control the movement of its tail to allow it to survey the surrounding area. It has 3 eyes both on the back and belly of the tail. It lays its eggs inside dead soma monofoots, then guards the carcass while its young mature.
