Ancestor:Descendants:

The spiny scuttlecrab replaced its ancestor, the leatherback scuttlecrab, on the Yokto Beach. Its exoskeleton has developed into serrated spines. Each are very sharp and can cut the skin of its main predator, the prismgrass stinger. The sharp claws are not only used for defense against predators but used to cut the tough crystal prismgrass as well. Even its mandibles are spiky. Its bright colors and patterns are used to ward off predators. They can also puff out their spikes and make themselves look bigger.
