Splitting from its ancestor, the spotted sucker foi has specialized in its choice of prey. Evolving from the delicate sucker foi which specialized on the gilltail, they found the large shoals of its descendants a tempting food source. Smaller and much thinner than the delicate sucker foi, they tend to aggregate around the eyes, mouth, and gill openings. Producing spores on a weekly bases but with fewer produced compared to related species.
