The sulfasule has split from its ancestor and grown in both size and number of cells in its composition. While it reproduces at a much slower rate, splitting into several smaller clusters, it is able to gather more sulfur to feed on than its ancestor. Their cellular membranes have become thicker, and their inter-cellular "glue" has become even stronger, providing them with a greater amount of protection.
