The tasermane split from its ancestor. When some woollycoats ventured out into the Darwin High Grasslands, they found a place that had few predators; this gave them an opportunity to spread into a new environment with little competition for them to deal with. However, in order to adapt to its warmer environment, the tasermane lost a sizable amount of its woolly coat, except around its neck and back, giving the tasermane its name. The tasermane has also become larger not only because of a lack of competition, but also being able to eat more frequently than its ancestor. The tasermane lives in nomadic groups that consist of 4-9 individuals. During spring, mating season occurs and there are mating groups that consist of 14-30 individuals. Males tend to engage in battles where they bob their heads up and down at each other to show off their manes. Then they charge at each other with their wooden skullcaps and fight each other until one of them tires out; the strongest male mates with the females and raise up to 2-3 offspring. Other than these adaptations, they are much like their ancestors.
