The tonboswarmer replaced its ancestor, the armored cloudswarmer. Its body has become thinner and its wings have become stronger and lighter. Without so much weight but still the strength of its cellulose exoskeleton its able to fly very quickly to avoid predators. It can not only fly but can hover, this is helpful when feeding of spawning over the water or cryobowls.
Its larva start out like normal swarmers but then develop into a hard cellulose covered pupa. One the pupa hatches its body is transformed into a flying adult. Note that only adults have sex organs to mate with. The larva stage is strictly an aquatic planktivore, while the adult stage is a flying fruigivore. The larva only have 1 eye while the adult stage have 3.
