The tunki replaced its ancestor, the cracking pipent in Yokto Alpine and neighboring rocky biomes. It has grown to twice its ancestors size and has gotten very very fat. It keeps its body warm with thick blubber. In fact its to hard and thick that predators have a hard time biting it. Its almost like rubber. It has sharp front claws which it uses to not only climb with but fend off any predators.
They use their strong jaws to eat carnofern trunks. Their hard wooden teeth grown throughout their life and they must gnaw things to keep them in check. They also enjoy eating the sugar filled bubbles on the sugar-trunked balloonarch. They no longer use burrows and will sleep huddled together. Each herd has 8 to 12 individuals. Males will wrestle each other like sumo wrestles trying to push the other one over. Many males have scars all over their backs from this.
