The ugly woodenberry split from its ancestor, it lives primarily in the Barlowe Tundra, individuals scattered about the dry wasteland. Its leaves are now more leathery than fleshy, and only grow in the Sagan 4 Summer. Its large wooden base is covered in stout spikes to defend against any would be herbivores attempting to dig it up. Its berry stalk is thin and made of brittle wood, it has stout spikes on it so that if something brushes against it the stalk will break off and be carried away from the parent, along with that the tip is smelly and red in color to attract fauna. The berries are also hooked, just like its ancestors berries.
