The vainytangle replaced its ancestor, the ninja irontangle, and grew to twice its ancestor's length. It isn't satisfied with its small area of ninjaswoop water puddle and will grow larger and spread around more than its ancestor did.
This change in life style introduced the vainytangle to new organisms, which it in turn used to acquire more nutrients. If a juvenile cave nakeworm, for instance, came near a ninjaswoop to try and eat it, the vainytangle would slowly grow and spread to its mouth. The vainytangle will suck out iron rich liquids from the cave nakeworm for as long as it is near, using small, sharp bumps on its surface to penetrate through the cave nakeworm's skin.
When a ninjaswoop is very close to a domed loppy, the vainytangle will take advantage of this as well. It will grow on top of the domed loppy and try to get to its spores. It has developed a primitive vein system to move nutrients from the furthest edges of its body to its core, which is almost always inside the ninjaswoop's water puddle.
