The wading cotingo split from its ancestor, the bloody nose cotingo. It has moved to the Chum waterways. They spend most of their time in Chum Salt Lake and Chum Salt Bog due to its abundance of prey. However some will adventure up river to feed on carrion. There it thanks in the water with its "horns" underwater. It has evolved the ability to "smell" underwater. It will then move to there it can smell food and then wait. Once something passes by and touches its "horns", it will grab the prey with them and pull it toward its "rasp lips" to eat it.
Like their ancestor they are semi-warm-blooded and can regulate their temperate. If the temperate drops too much its long neck and long legs can actually retract into its shell so it can stay warm until the weather passes. When on land their boneless legs compress down to support its weight. However in the water its can use its semi-hollow shell to float on the water surface and help keep its legs fully extended. Unlike their ancestors they are solitary hunters who only meet to mate.
