Some cracking pipents that lived in Flisch-Krakow Alpine followed the melting water in search for food when the competition was hard. These pipents then came to split off from their ancestor and started living in the BioCat River, were there was no competition at all for the food. To be able to cope with the heat the whitebacked pipent has as the name suggests a white back, making it attract less heat. They also stay in the river during the days, mostly close to the shores though since they aren't as good swimmers as they once were. Their pipe is now very useful and has grown longer. The whitebacked pipent eats salt grass leaves that hang down over the water, though they stay away from the razor sharp grass straws. Since the salt grass only grow during the rainy seasons the whitebacked pipent hibernate the dry seasons. They do this by digging themselves down in the sand with their claws, covering their whole body with the exception of the pipe which it can still breath through. Before the dry season begins the whitebacked pipent starts eating more to store enough fat to survive the long dry period. When the sun has settled the whitebacked pipents come up from the water and with their laughter they locate each other and sleep and socialize. Due to being partly active in the night as well as the day the whitebacked pipent has evolved more flexible eyes, so that they can see better in the dark, but still see good in the very bright days in the desert. They walk on their hind legs just like their ancestor, however they usually use the front legs to balance and support themselves when standing still. The whitebacked pipent has still got a lot of fat; this is due to it being so hard to find drinkable water in the salty desert. They have also grown slightly smaller to save energy.
