Splitting from its ancestor, the blind moonlit nerius has come to inhabit the dark depths of the Rabid Sandstone Sea Caves. Larger than the nerius, this species has gone blind due to lack of light, and now possesses a thin layer of skin over its eyes as they gradually regressed in both size and function. They have also evolved a chitinous tooth, which they utilize to scrape off microfilm, gunk, bits of meat, as well as anything else that is even the slightest bit edible. Other than this, however, they have not changed significantly from their ancestors.
While native to sea caves, they are also to be found in the open waters of the coastline. Those that live here, or who venture out of the caves, do so only under the cover of darkness, and hide during the day in cracks and crevices. A slimy coat helps them to accomplish this, as it helps to mask their scent from potential predators.
