Ancestor:Descendants:

The brutish lizardworm split from its ancestor, the cave lizardworm, and has left the cave to a whole new world of weird species. It has grown bigger and now preys upon the desert shellwalker and grassing shellwalker. It has bulked up to be able to break the shells of the shellwalkers. It uses its strong jaws as well as its serrated mandibles. On its front feet its has scythe-like claws in which it uses like a can opener to pry apart the exoskeleton of the shellwakers. They also have a tail spike in which they can stab upwards underneath the tall male grassing shellwalker.

The front pair of legs also work well for digging and climbing. They are quite fast when in the heat of day, but as they are cold-blooded and must regulate their temperature by sunning and shading themselves. They hunt alone and are not social at all, only meeting to mate during the spring. Males will have big brawls when fighting over females, with the stronger one winning. They will lay their eggs in the ground and leave them to hatch on their own. Most do not make it and those that do make it almost never reach adulthood.
