Ancestor:Descendants:

The cave lizardworm split from its ancestor, the desert lizardworm. It now has adapted to the cave environment. It has bigger eyes to see in the low light and has expanded its diet to eggs as well as small invertebrates. Its color has changed to a rusty red to blend in with the red sandstone. Like its ancestor it has a lizard like jaw but also two insect-like mandibles. It uses then to grab its food while it is gnawing it up. Its has four pairs of segmented legs. The front pair have split even more into a 3 prongs used for digging and climbing. They are quite fast when in the heat of day. They are cold-blooded and must regulate their temperature by sunning and shading themselves in opening in the cave.
