The burrsnapper split from its ancestor, the swiftsnapper. It has specialized in eating the burrback krugg. It cleans off fauna that have the burrback krugg stuck to them. They choose to nest on the backs of very large species, such as the goliath flunejaw. These nests are made from their downy fur and sticky saliva. Inside are 2 to 3 eggs. And the parents will take turns sitting on the nest and bringing back food for their offspring. Since they remove the painful burrback krugg, these nests are normally tolerated if not encouraged by the fauna they live on.
Males have a colorful fluffy crest whole females do not. They have large talons on their feet and wings to help grasp on to their host fauna. In addition their strong jaws can break apart the exoskeletons of the burrback krugg. They typically break off the spines before eating. This process can take some time, which is why its good to have the protection of their host. While they do not feed on them often they do sometimes supplement their diet with dartirs (when they can catch them).
