The chunky zoister split from its ancestor and spread to Otter Vents. As they are now completely benthic they have lost their tail fins. In order to maintain balance they now have two large tail spikes formed from the final segment of there tail. The tail spikes also serve in reproduction as the majority of spores are produced along the dorsal surface of the tail spikes where they are more easily spread by the current. In order to feed the chunky zoister scoops large amounts of sand into its mouth and swallows. The sand passes through harmlessly and any microorganisms in it are digested.
